Scooby the Lazy rapper released Kula Huu last week.
We caught up with him and asked him why he wrote the song.
“The devil is a liar, a big liar!” He tells us. “We’ve lost too many people. I mean most of my friends are artists. I used to get bad news every now and then. Like Stonee Jiwe just lost his mom, the same week, kennon lost his mom too. The next week, my friend Kenny born lost his dad then Timeless Noel (lost his dad) then came Sagini … yaani it’s been crazy.”
Stonee Jiwe lost his mother four months ago while Timeless Noel’s father died in November. Budding Kenyan singer Sagini died in December after a short illness.
“I got tired of tolerating that craziness,” Scooby says. “That’s why I did the song Kula Huu… shetani akule huu. I want to tell people, ‘don’t just exist..live.’ And that’s what I always tell people. Celebrate life! The devil came to steal, destroy and kill. Shetani hatuwezi (Satan cannot defeat us) in Jesus name.”
Scooby also revealed Kula Huu‘s video will be dropping soon. “The video has been done by Nezzoh Montana.”
“I have what it takes to take this industry to another level … international level” he tells his fans. “So ya’ll keep supporting my work and you won’t be disappointed.”
